Has anyone had any experience with a long lens and the Uniqball http://www.uniqball.com/ While I love my Wimberly head and long lens support it does get heavy to lug around and as I'm getting older my joints are liking it less and less. One of the things I'm concerned about is hiking a moderate distance with the camera attached to the ballhead, I do it regularly with my long lens on the Wim but never with my short lenses on the RRS ballhead I have. It looks like a great compromise at a light weight but I'm just not sure about it. Thanks in advance!

Hi Hali, I had the same dilemma, but have been shooting since April with it, using the 1DX's and a variety of long lens, 200-400, 500, 600, 800 and it's superb. The ideal item when travelling as it's much smaller & lighter. In Africa it was ideal, very simple to set up and done correctly, it will avoid those sloping images at times. My good friend Andy Rouse did a great video on the item, check it out as this will give you a great insight into the product. Certainly hawking the 1DX & 500 in situ isn't an issue, or has been, likewise no trapping of fingers, easily done with say the Arca Swiss. Smooth action when panning, locks down and is effortless, although I do still use the Wimberley MKII still, or when using two camera body set-ups. :wavey:

Thanks Stephen. I am planning on getting one to check out, especially with an NPN'ers review, I did see Andy's video but it was just so gung ho and the wording made it sound as if he was being compensated for the piece that I was leery of it. Looking forward to giving it a try out.
