Canon has finally revamped the beloved 100-400mm with a new II version. It lists for $2199 and comes out next month. Given Canon's latest trend of replacing old designs with a much sharper version within the last 4-5 years, I'm thinking we've finally got a compact 400mm with IS and way better optics.

Best of all, no more air pump zoom, the new design ROTATES. :toast:

I am sure the new lens will be better than the old one. However, the front element of the new one still goes in and out by extending quite a bit. I am not sure if push/pulling is any different than twisting a collar. The lens still extends and contracts so air must go in and out just like the old one. I don't think a HEPA filter was placed in the lens to filter dust during this process so dust will still get in.
