Which finch? ID help please
Took this at the Sugar Grove Nature Center in central Illinois, on 11-14-14. At first I thought house finch, while numbers seem down this year are frequently found in the area. But, to me the red looked more like the "raspberry" red of the purple finch, which I have not seen before, if this is what it is. Photo conditions were poor, late afternoon, birds were in shade, and numerous twigs and small branches in the way.
