I've gotten my FAA site to just what I want. Now I want a shorter domain name to go with it. Telling folks that my website is www.http://lucy-vanswearingen.artistwebsites.com is a ridiculous mouthful!
I know, that it is now possible for me to get a domain name of lucyvanswearingen.photography. Even lucyvanswearingen.com or lucyvanswearingenphotography or art.com would be much easier for someone to remember! Can I get a new domain name, that will only take folks to the FAA site? Or should I get my own new domain...put a pretty photo on it and have the FAA link? Which is easier or better?

Lucy, you can get whatever domain name is available and then forward it to the FAA url address. Having a very long last name myself I've always used the tag or business name if you will of Trail Images Photography.
With that said I have the domain name of www.trailimages.com. provided by Network Solutions. I think I've held that name for almost 20+ years now.
If someone searches for that url.....www.trailimages.com....it is actually forwarded by Network Solutions to my very long FAA address. Once you set things up you can change the target url forwarding yourself at anytime. I just recently moved mine from another site to FAA only weeks ago now. You do the change through your own account.
There is a fee for both the domain name you find open to fit your needs and also a charge for the forwarding then to your url address at FAA. .....
