This might be a stupid question but how do you save the history in photoshop when you close it down. I reopen my images and the history is restarted? Can you save it???
Not that I'm aware of. You can, however, save an Audit trail of all the actions performed on the file - but it's not "undo"-able.
Basically it's one of the reasons a lot of people make their adjustments on adjustment layers - then the changes can be altered or deleted/turned off later.
You can record it as an Action (not available in Elements) - I usually use this for applying the same changes to batches of images, but there is no reason why you can't just do this for a single image.
If you don't save over the original file you can simply run the original back through the action in the morning, giving you a new history. Haven't checked to see whether this would actually work, so just a theoretical workaround. Expect that cloning would be an exception, but curves, re-sizing etc should be fine.
