Small Ferns on a Wet Wall
Taken on some unknown north facing wet basalt wall on the Washington side of the Gorge. I wasn't sure about removing the small ferns entering the edges.

Nice closeup. I'm always fond of these kind of shots. I think you discovered a nice scene.
The colors are good and detail is sharp. There are three elements, moss, ferns, and the round leaves contrasting the ferns. The comp might be improved a bit if the small ferns entering the right corner wouldn't be there, as you suggested already. Also would be a stronger image if the ferns on the bottom wouldn't exit the frame so that the moss would frame the image imho.

These are some pretty ferns. I like these kind of shots too. If you drive over to Shepperd's Dell on the Oregon Side, off of the Historic Highway, there is a rock wall covered with ferns that are great for this kind of shot. Walk down the stairs and round the corner. Look for them on the left side right about 50-100 feet back from the end of the very, very, very short trail. I've seen the fronds arranged in some nice repeating patterns at times there...
