I was looking for thoughts from anyone using Zenfolio to host their web-site regarding the recent changes they are calling upgrades.

The New Edit View is very unsatisfactory with reduced features in my opinion. We should be allowed the option to keep the old Edit View if we so choose after the March 30th deadline.

If you are not satisfied with the new changes, please comment here and let's help Zenfolio understand that if it ain't broke, it don't need fix'n.

If you like the new Edit View, please comment on why the new upgrades are useful to you.

Thanks for any and all input on this situation.
I will send Zenfolio a link to this Forum item once everyone who is a Zenfolio user has had a chance to comment.

I see most of these changes as a significant step backwards. In particular, it's much more work to find the number of views for any image and the reduction from 5 to 2 in terms of the tracking the top galleries and top images makes the tracking next to useless. I agree with Mike that these "improvements" do nothing to improve my experience as a Zenfolio user.

Mike, the one big thing (for me) that I found so far is that you cannot upload a photo in order to replace a photo in a gallery. You can only replace a photo with a photo from another gallery, which for me is totally useless - when I improve the process in a photo I want to upload the new version and automatically discard the older one. Can't do that anymore, you could with the old system. I have contacted support, and they told me that they know about the issue and might fix it. I transcribe my exchange with them:

to support
Hi,

In the old edit view it was possible to upload a replacement photo, to replace a photo in a gallery. In the new view this does not appear to be possible - only to replace a photo with a photo from another gallery. The functionality to replace a photo by uploading a new version (and automatically discarding the old one) is very useful to me, and I would like to have it. Is it hidden somewhere in the new view, or is this something that has gone away, or have you forgotten about it?

Thanks!

Alberto

Subject: Upload replacement photo in new edit view?

Hi Alberto,
Thank you for reaching out to Zenfolio support!

We are aware of this issue with uploading a replacement photo.

Our engineers are working hard to resolve it! Unfortunately, at this moment I do not have an exact timeframe as to when it will be resolved. Do know they are working to fix it, though!

I have forwarded your case to the engineers, and we will contact you once we have more information.

In the meantime, you can continue to upload a replacement photo in the old Edit View.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you,

Stephen

I use Zenfolio. I wasn't even aware of any so-called upgrades. I change my site so seldom that it's a learning experience whenever I do. Thanks for the heads up.
