Coastal Sunrise
I was at the coast (Cannon Beach) last Wednesday through Friday to take advantage of our nice weather. Got up early for some sunrise shots and found the beach a little on the short end due to high tides and rough waters. Just before sunrise, the clouds started moving in and the sunrise colors did not look like it was going to happen. Then, as if someone turned on a switch, this awesome rays of sunshine burst out over the mountains. Glad I waited to see if something would happen. In about 4 minutes it was over.

Stopped at Barview, Friday, to check out the beach and jetty area on the way home. There were two Coast Guard boats out on the bar doing some practice maneuvering. It was exciting to watch as the swells coming in were at least 30 feet high. Was able to get a few shots. Here's one of them.

I love waves, boats and sunrises. I like both photos. Love the quiet beauty of the sunrise and the action in the other. Although most of my beach photos are near Long Beach across the river, I do get to Oregon beaches and foothills 3-4 time a year. Do you have the specs for these? Also, in the lower right of second appears a light spot. Almost looks like a salmon floating there. Maybe just a whitecap. Wish I had been there to experience both.

Hi Don! I do like the sunburst in the sunrise photo. I bet shooting the coast guard boats was fun. It looks fun at least. The spray off the boat is great! Good timing, very sharp and good light.

Thanks for posting!
