I will be spending a week at Oak Island NC with the family the second week of July. My wife and are then going spend some time photographing the Atlantic Coast (I will be photographing parts of the Pacific coast in June i.e. Oregon). I have heard a lot about Hunting Island and Huntington Beach. Should I try to hit both spots or is one photogenically superior to the other. I will be shooting scenics as well as birds/wildlife.

Thanks in advance.

Check out my post in ESS. This was taken at Huntington Beach State Park. (South of Myrtle Beach, SC). This is not the same as Hunting Island. I've heard that Hunting Island is awesome, and want to go. But I think Huntington Beach is worth a trip too...I'm not a bird photographer but they say it has some of the best birding on the east coast. I saw lots of birds and wildlife, fantastic sunrise, beautiful beach, as well as the unusual house that the Huntingtons build in the 30's, which itself offers some interesting photo ops.

Both places are worth the trip, IMO.

But Hunting Island - near Beaufort - is a very special place to me. Its going to be a farther drive for you but well worth it.
