Thick Vine Maples and Sword Ferns deep in the Columbia wilderness near the headwaters of Eagle Creek. Canon 5D (now deceased) Canon 17-40 @ F22, polarizer, 30 seconds at ISO 100 - very thankful for the still conditions. Compression isn't doing me any favors here. Thanks for comments. More new stuff will have to wait until I get this camera ordeal sorted out!
I was just up this trail yesterday, and was blown away by the overwhelming green, you've captured it well here. This really gives a sense of the lushness of the forest this time of year.
Finding a composition in all that green chaos is about the next thing to impossible. This one took several hours of searching a very small area. Did you head up the Watum Lake trail or the Eagle Creek trail Zack? This was taken yesterday also.
My film camera, a 1V took a dunking and the Canon repair estimate was more than a new camera.. Maybe the digital ones are more robust... Mine bit the dust on Bridal Veil creek.
Nice shot in a very busy green environment. I am guessing this came from the CF card of the soaked 5D ? Kind of wish the glow of the middle ferns was found on this one closest to the lens but it's a very enticing photo.
Marc,
This is pretty cool. Nice fern specimens. For me, just looking at the dark ferns (which are almost too dark) then looking at the bits o harsh sky...I can see it was a hard scene to shoot. The perfect comp would be one with no sky to burn through the canopy...but you cant have everything.

7 repliesThe ferns in the foreground have a nice flow to them. I think thats the striking part of this image.
