First off, a very happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there! You have one of the most important roles on the planet, and we thank you for everything you do as a mom.

This Mother's Day is filled with joy for our family on the mom front, but it is mixed with sadness on another front. Just over a week ago, we lost one of the most special wildlife subjects we have ever had the privilege of photographing--a beautiful fox vixen who was a truly exceptional mom.

Jenaya, Josiah and I wanted to honour her and her story with a tribute of some of our pictures of her along with some anecdotes and backstory. If you are interested, it's up on our new blog here.

And PLEASE take the time to thank the moms in your life for their sacrificial love.

John, what a great life cycle story with a sad ending, although we fully understand how life for all plays out over time.
The photos and your family blog is super, and I was really glad to have seen your recent post here as a tribute to that wonderful and dedicated Mom......

I am having difficulty typing this reply because my eyes keep filling with tears. This is a very moving and wonderful tribute. How fortunate you and your family were that she allowed you to share in her life. Thank you all for allowing us to share a bit of that experience through your prose and images.

Wonderful images and a great story, John. Thank you for posting. One of the very few links I've passed on to friends.
