I most recently after having used Firefox for many years now had an issue with color management looking a bit odd at times. Although I was well aware of one parameter being important to non profiled images and had only checked that setting a couple months ago things still were off occasionally.
After reviewing the same images with an iPhone using a Safari browser and not seeing any issues I knew something in Firefox was not right. At the same time I'd sent an email to Harley and he thought browser issues too which made me revisit my browser color management settings.
The thought that Firefox is "Color Managed" does not mean so by default.
Here is a link to verify the settings for Firefox if you're using that browser.

Paul, I just went to the site you linked to and found out that I didn't have the right settings going in Firefox, so even though I have a calibrated monitor, the displayed images were not fully color managed. (Based on the calibration test, they were close, but not quite right.) After changing my Firefox settings, all looks good according to the monitor calibration test given on that same web site. Thanks for finding and posting this!
I find it mind-blowing the IE is still not color-managed, and even worse, WINDOWS isn't! On my wide-gamut calibrated 30" monitor, I have to create a special desaturated image if I want to use one as desktop wallpaper, lol! Forget the icons in Explorer, they're as overly-saturated as most images posted on 500px. What was/is Microsoft thinking??
Of course, this is the same company that, when you are trying to install printer drivers and you click the Have Disk button, pops up a dialog box with "A:/" prefilled for you, so you can manually type the path to the .INF drivers on your 3½" floppy drive. Still in Windows 8.1. Seriously. #GetAClue
@ Mark, glad to be of help. I've used Firefox for MANY years now and have been in the settings at least 3 or 4 times during that time. If I read things correctly it was only awhile back they changed one parameter I was aware of to the opposite it was originally suppose to be. That must have been when they got me. Although, I only noticed a few thumbnails here and there that looked odd to me. For the most part all 720 & 1200 sizes looked fine. So, that was a tip off for me to double check things. I will say I did not take note of which setting recently had changed I just ran the list provided and set them as advised and the issue was gone immediately....
@ Paul, I hear you on the IE issue. Thankfully Firefox has really done a good job of keeping us using their browser. I'm not sure about Chrome, Opera,.....etc. as alternatives. Again, I've only used Firefox or Mozilla as it was called since it first came out.......

Preston, I do think the word "managed" is overrated, no matter what sentence it's used in.......
