About four of us will be in Page area last of Sept and would like to tour White Pocket. Will need a guide with vehicle and looked at Grand Staircase Discovery Tours in Page...Chris was my contact person. Rate for 1pm til sunset seemed reasonable. Is anyone familiar with this company or have another recommendation.
Thanks,
Joe Rogers

Joe,
While I haven't heard of this company (never looked into a guide for White Pocket), I would recommend that you spend the night so you get sunset, blue hour & sunrise. I think that another member of the Forum (now pretty much just posting on Facebook) rented a vehicle (don't remember if it was Page or Kanab) & drove in himself. If you go to http://thewave.info/WhitePocketCode/ there is a good map/description of how to get to White Pocket. I wouldn't go on a weekend...... Have fun & post some pics!

Joe, as Monica recommended, do the overnight. I saw on their website that the overnight tour is not that much more expensive.

I recommend that you rent a Jeep and do it on your own. It's not a difficult road, just sandy. Navigation isn't tough if you follow directions and take a topo map. The actual White Pocket area is easy to explore and you'll find some fantastic spots just walking around on the rock.

Joe,
Yea, I was one that rented a few years ago. I rented a older Jeep Cherokee that preformed flawlessly. The dude that rents it, mainly caters to folks going to White Pockets or similar areas. Thus, he has put big tires on that just float over the sand with no problem. Was a reasonable price as I recall. Staying over night is almost a given to provide a variety of shooting conditions and not having to rush. It still is a decent drive timewise to get to White Pockets.
