Seems to me it's the nature of the beast (zoom lens) Ken. How much dust gets in will depend on your regular shooting environment, over time of course. I had the old push/pull model and even though I took care to avoid dust, it eventually made its way in. A small amount of dust has no effect on the image as you know

Very dissapointing though not as bad as the old push pull model.
Have had mine since last December. It is my favorite lens and heavily used and no dust issues for me.
