Camera Repair

My camera, a Pentax 67ii, broke down almost a year ago. Essentially, the film rewind mechanism is jammed, and none of the suggested procedures to resolve the issue have proved useful. It also seems like no Pentax service center in the U.S. works on this model any more. I was wondering if someone here could recommend a repair facility that I can use. A place that is close to the San Francisco Bay Area would be preferred.

Thanks very much,

Anil

Anil, this guy is highly rated by the folks on the APUG site (Analog Photographers User Group). He is in Tennessee but he apparently worked for Pentax for years in Chicago I think. If not, you can always contact KEH to see if they can work on it.

You might try United Camera Repair in Rock Island, Illinois.

Adolph Gasser is very good.  No idea if they repair Pentax.  Give them a call...

Anil, being based in Africa, I know of a suberb craftsman based in South Africa - he can fix all medium format cameras (and has worked on my Pentax 6x7 before).  This is obviously way out of the San Francisco area.  You have my email address if, by chance, you want me to give you his email address.  Good luck.

Hi - this fellow is in Sacramento, and well worth the drive, to save shipping and save possible shipping damage. They work on all camera brands. They saved 2 cameras and 2 lenses of mine that were messed up in a lengthy Africa trip., including one that had been zapped by an electric fence that was not labeled.  Call first - they do lots of business.

Good luck!

Anil,

Seawood Photo in San Anselmo has their own repairman.  It's been 5 years since I live in Marin so I don't know if he's still there, but if he is, it's worth a call.  He's a good guy and will willingly speak to you about your options.
