A few questions were asked regarding links have surface, so here's the scoop: The way to insert a link has changed with this new updated version of NPN. It's super easy, just click the Link icon just above and all the way to the left... it looks like a little chain link, the icon right under the B for bold (well, you'll have to open a New Post window to see it I realize! See image below...). When the window pops up, paste or type in your web address and click OK. That's it! You don't need the http:// part, that's built in, so if you wanted to put a link to a site like Adobe.com, just enter www.adobe.com in the popup window and you're good to go. UPDATE, 6/16/2015: I just pasted a full web address into the new Link box and it autmoatically removes the http:// that it doesn;t need! Very cool! So just copy your web address and when you paste it in, it'll be properly formatted. Awesome.
You can also set the link to open in a new window or tab for the reader, and leave the NPN post in the browser untouched. This is totally optional, but if you would like to do that: On that popup form, put in your link, then click the second tab that says Target. There's only one setting and it will say "not set" by default. Just change it to "New Window", that's it. When your link is clicked, it'll fire up in a new tab or window for your reader.
Regarding the old antiquated embed codes we used to use, such as Click here, all that doesn't work anymore, and doesn't need to. Not Jim's fault or decision, this new wonderful rich text posting window that has been incorporated into the NPN webpages doesn't support old code formats... doesn't need to, we have the spiffy new Link tool now.
BTW, I did notice that past posts have had their links coverted, which is great.
SO, if I've confused you even more now with this post about links, pop in a reply and I'll clarify things. Thanks!
No prob, I appreciate Mark Seaver letting me know that the URL embed tags DON'T work any longer, I didn't realize that. Should have, that's leftover coding from the days of using Prodigy on my Commodore 128 in the mid 80s, lol.
This new editing format the Jim picked is actually latest and greatest right now, and is the tool of choice in most forums. Love the bolding and bulleted lists, etc! I kind wish the gray background would go away after it's posted though, just white would look clean and modern, but that's just my $.02...
