Just one more from the Gebes nest for now.... waiting for the eggs to hatch, Hope I have not bored you all
For a change there was a break in the grey, gloomy and wet weather last night so I raced out to do a commisioned shoot which was not far from the nest site, so called in to check on progress. Unfortunately the water level has risen a fair bit, floating the nest which has moved round so that the previous vantage point has the OOF branch straight through the middle. Waded out under the cover of reeds to get this shot, not something I will be doing again as the welfare of the birds should be paramount, they are happy whilst you are on the bank of the lake but start to become agitated if you enter the water, so I backed off to outside of their comfort zone, got in a couple of shots and left them to it.
Due to the slow approach this was just about in last light.... as the nest has moved I will now wait for the chicks which should present a good number of opportunities.
Hi Phil
you say Bored! I am glad that you have shared your images with us as I have certainly changed my perspective in photographing birds in poor weather. Another beautiful picture of a gorgeous bird.

Wonderful detail and a lovely reflection... I get a a real sense of being there. It looks so clear it feels like I'm looking through a window The weather outside also matches this. Well done and thanks for sticking through the rains

Stonking shot. Such great colour and detail. Once again you have demonstrated that low light is no barrier to good nature photography. Nice work.
cheers
