I am heading up to Victoria on business in the not-too-distant future and will have a day or so to look around. Can you recommend any good places on the island to visit for scenery/photography?  Good restaurants?

Thanks

The Inner Harbour area of Victoria is very scenic for travel photography with the famed Empress hotel and Parliament House (looks great at dusk with lights on).

Butchart Gardens is fantastic and not far from Victoria.

If you have more than a day, the west coast between Ucelet and Tofino is spectacular.

Head over to the Gulf Islands via Cowichan or Nanaimo if you have the time.  Sooke Harbour House is a great restaurant and you will need reservations in advance. Victoria's Chinatown has superb food.  Royal BC Museum in Victoria is worth a visit.  Victoria has an English feel to it.  Gulf Islands have excellent artesinal producers of cheese and Vancouver Island has a few decent wineries.  Hilary's Cheese in Cowichan is worth a visit.  If you have the time in the future, heading way up north on the island is a worthwhile adventure.
