I am assuming you plan to use an external drive for backup or simply for storage. So, here are my comments on the two items you linked to...
The WD you linked to uses an SSD--that's why it's so small. It would be a nice choice if you plan to take it on the road along with a laptop. The cost per gigabyte is still high, so from that standpoint a high quality regular HDD will have a better cost/ gigabyte ratio. Also, SSD's are designed for rapid IOPS (read/write speeds). That's why they are preferred for operating systems and apps.
The desktop Seagate should be a nice drive, but I've not been a fan of their quality--I've had them fail. I suggest that you look at Western Digital desktop solutions that use WD Red HDD's. These drives have very high reliability and decent speed. I've also had excellent preformance from WD Green drives--they are slower, but use less power, but if used only for archive storage or backup, they are a less costly alternative.
btw: I have two internal, and two external WD drives (the externals are in Vantec Nextstar enclosures) All these drives are four years old, and have been very reliable. My OS drive is an Intel 240GB SSD.
Hi Preston. Thanks for detailed answer. I'm looking for a harddrive to store images (raw/masters) and access via LR catalog as well. My iMac HD is too small (500gb).
I will look into green HDs you mentioned and perhaps buy a housing and use it as external HD.
Puget Systems has a WD USB 3.0 4TB external drive for 280.00 USD. It uses a WD Red drive in a Vantec enclosure. Be sure to hit the 'More information' link on that pa
I trust Puget Systems--I have two of their computers, and have bought items from their store. Their support and customer service is impeccable.

Here is an article from Puget Systems comparing WD Green vs WD Red drives.
