I thought the old version left each photo feeling "lost in white space" which I think the new photo-frame-with-mat presentation addresses. Along with presenting the Photos of the Month in a more elegant fashion, it is also a bit easier to set up each month.

<div>I like the concept, but I wish that the framing wasn't a one size fits all approach and was more of a gallery (brick and mortar) type of framing. The verticals, with a lot of matting on the sides and very little at the top, Horizontals with a lot of matt at the top and little on the sides looks odd to me. The square format images look better, but are still off a bit.</div>

<div>Additionally, I think that the EPA yearly galleries, or any fixed gallery, could benefit from a slide show that opens so that visitors can click on the gallery and then sit back and enjoy the show without having to click through. Just a thought.</div>

Neil, I hear what you're saying! I agree, the "frame" would look better sized to the photo, but that would require making one for each of the ten photos every month, which would be quite time consuming. My goal is to present the POTM as elegantly as possible and at the same time, streamline the work flow of creating the files for the slide show.
We have the slide shows going back to EPA 2012, the link is at the top of the page in the EPA galleries.

OK, frames for each photo now uploaded! I established a workflow that's not too bad and it does look much better.
