Our first in a series of Why Nature Photography audio slideshows is now complete and online!

http://www.naturephotographers.net/audioslideshows/whynaturephotography.html

We have added a new "Inspiration" section to the Galleries drop-down menu where the link to this volume and future volumes can be found. There will be additional links placed throughout the NPN website, as well as links from NPN's Facebook page.

We will be producing additonal volumes (7 to 8 contributors each) as follows;

  • Volume II - Landscapes (Current contributors: Eva McDermott)
  • Volume III - Birds (Current contributors: Mike Ramy)
  • Volume IV - Wildlife
  • Volume V - Macro
  • Volume VI - Flora

Each will retain the Why Nature Photography theme, but the photos will be specific to the subject of the volume.  Each volume will have a unique sound track as well. Additionally, we will be posting a tutorial on how to record a quality voice-over to accompany your photos.

If anyone is interested in contributing to one of these future volumes please let us know ASAP and we'll add you to the contributors list above! We need to keep each volume about 6 to 7 minutes long maximum, which will limit us to about 7 or 8 member contributors in each volume.

We hope you enjoy this Why Nature Photography audio slideshow and we look forward to your participation in the upcoming productions!

I love Volume I.  What a great idea Jim!  Can't wait to see volume 2.

Are some of those 4X5 guys in it?

That was an excellent persentation, great background music, inspiring images and wonderful personal commentary. Great concept, come to life, Jim.

A splendid work, with beautiful photographies and an excellent presentation. A great idea has become true. Bravo!

What I could see was beautiful, Jim.  With my low speed DSL connection, I couldn't seem to get the slide show toload properly, though I did manage to get all the audio (My wife loves the music).

Excellent work by Jim and Jim!   Looking forward to seeing more.

I am sending the link to everyone I know!

I hope the Landscape production will be open to some of the landscapes with subtle "hand of man" influences that sometimes appear in the "Man &* Nature" Gallery.  They can be among the most exciting landscape scenes.

EXCELLENT! May we share on FaceBook?  I would love to contribute to landscape.  What are the posting details as per pixel size, file size, etc.?

Bill, check your email! Yes, by all means, share the link on FB!

The biggest challenge with Volume 1 was the huge variation in the quality of the voice over recordings. We will definitely address that with a tutorial, which I hope to have done this week.  For anyone who wants to get a jump on this, acquire the following;

Using a decent microphone like the one above makes a HUGE difference!  You can also record using the Voice Memo feature of an iPhone, but the quality will not be as good.

Finally, this free audio editing software;

With a PC, a decent microphone and the free software we will show you how to make a superb recording for your voice over!

Really nicely done, and I'm sure it was a bit of work. Looking forward to Volume II.
