Barn Swallow in Flight
Another picture taken whilst away in Scotland. I took easily 200 shots trying to get a good in flight Swallow. They move so fast it was pretty hard to get anything decent. A frame filler seemed close to impossible as once they got big in the frame there was almost no chance of predicting which why they would suddenly turn. This was the best of the bunch - a roughly %50 crop.

Of course some fill flash under the wings would have helped but this was taken during my first attempts and at that point hadn't thought about flash. Later shots with flash either were not sharp or they were too small in the frame. It was all good practice though!

Looks as though your practice is starting to pay off - nice shot of a difficult subject!

Really well caught.
You're reactions must be way better than mine,I have a job following them with my eyes, never mind a lens. :toast:

You've done really really well. I don't think this even needs fill-in flash for the underside seems pretty well lit. They do move incredibly fast and are sooo erractic. With only a 50% crop using a 300mm lens you have done stonkingly well! :toast:
