Does anybody have opinions or advice about the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 printer? Is it the best machine in its category? And Epson also sells a 4800 Pro "Professional" Edition. Does the Professional edition have features that are really worth the extra $500?

Thanks for any advice. Tim Stenning, Seattle

The only difference is the Pro series comes with a Rip. The rip is decent the only problem is you can only use Epson profiles with it. The only way to use third party profiles is to upgrade Big$$$$. IMHO you really do not need the Ripin the 4800, the Epson driver and PSCS2 work very nice. The 4800 is a real nice machine. You will love it.

I've had the 4800 since it came out and it's a fine printer. I am very happy with it, and I suspect you will be too. Feel free to email me if you want more info...

Cheers,
