EOS D60, 170-500@500, F5.6, 1/2500, ISO 400. Curves and USM.
Just returned from a weeks visit to Scotland where my girlfriend is researching Golden Plover behaviour. The flow country really is a remarkable area. We watched a Hen Harrier hunting from the kitchen window, Red Deer in the garden, Merlin, Peregrine, Snipe and more Wheatear than I've ever seen before! Unfortunately I only had a small memory card with me (doh!) so this was taken on an inferior quality setting than normal. I really can recommend the area around Forsinard to anyone looking for moorland species.
Sounds like a wonderful place.Yet another 'must visit' location.
Nice Stonechat shot too.

Hi Pete,
I think you have done a great job with the composition and its looks nice and sharp. However, the shot looks quite dark on my screen and the breast plumage looks over saturated? I think you may have over-cooked the curves.
Hmm... think shooting in strong evening light in jpg mode and allowing the camera to make some of it's own decisions wasn't the best plan! All I did in curves was lighten it a bit. Think I'll stay a RAW man wherever possible! (Probably need my monitor calibrating too)
