After less than 24 hours of snow falling (lightly but steadily) my trek to the woodpile shows a snow depth of about 18 inches (45cm). There are occasional gusts of wind, but not 50 mph and little to no wind much of the time, so I wouldn't call this a blizzard. I'm going to climb into the attic where I'm hoping to find the snow shoes that I haven't seen in nearly 10 years....
I'm not looking forward to shovelling the driveway!

Stay warm and safe Mark. No snow in NH so far this weekend.
WOW, it was a tough outing here in So Cal this morning driving to Starbucks too. I'd not had to use my sunglasses that early in the last two days.......
Admittedly, it has yet to break into the 60's this morning and it's already 10am.........another chilly one for us.....Brrrr...
You all be safe back there Mark and Eva.......
YIKES.......just saw the nightly news from back east........looks pretty bad to me.....

Best answer for clearing the driveway is take it S L O W and in sections, OR hire some local teenagers! I grew up in a snow belt area, and I used to shovel driveways for some extra cash when I was a kid (before everyone got snow blowers). Now that I live in an area where deep snows are not as common, and not everyone has a large snow blower, I see that kids still come around looking for work. I you are patient, the guys with plows will come around too, after taking care of their regular customers.
I hope you don't have any loss of electricity, Mark. That can be the worst thing to deal with when the roads are not cleared.
Have fun with the snow shoes! The storm completely missed northern NY, so in a way I kind of envy you. My Microspikes are getting a good workout this year, but my two pairs of show shoes (for different snow conditions), have not been out of their bags this winter!
It's all a matter of perspective, and what you are used to. A friend just sent me this quote: "What do you call it when we get two feet of snow in one day in Buffalo? TUESDAY!"

Yes, I took it "easy", shoveling for multiple periods of about 30 minutes over two days. I did need the heating pad for a very tired back on the Sunday evening and I couldn't find my snowshoes (darn it!) so I had to post hole it out through about 30 inches of snow to refill the bird feeder and try for a few backyard snow scenics on Monday.
