I saw this story online, and I therefore make no representations as to its authenticity:

http://news.yahoo.com/photo-of-organic-potato-sells-for-15-million-133620299.html

My favorite part of the story is how the potato is a "proxy for the ontological study of the human experience."

Has to be a put-on, right?

CNN has an article about the potato image that recently sold to an anonymous buyer for a shade over 1 million dollars. Apart from the potato image, there are also some portraits and a couple of still life images.

Not really my 'thing', but interesting. Perhaps I'll start taking photos of peanut butter sandwiches or my pencil collection? Ya never know, given that a picture of a lonesome potato sold for over a million. angel

Groan !!!......if Peter Lik had been there it would have sold for 6 times that amount,....allegedly of course....blush

Below is a link outlining the 20 most expensive photos ever sold. With a footnote about Peter's sale at the bottom of the list. The "Spud" has made the list at number 15.
