Well, I did the trek around Silver Falls, and man is the river raging and man o man are the greens green. This is North Falls, and just the left side of it. I know part of it is blown out...I'll fix it later...I just wanted to throw up a post of this place today. I'd actually say that the water is too raging. I'd wait another month to head in there and do the whole trek...still, there are a few images to be had from there now, but a waste of time for the whole loop.
Don't be so ready to discard/discount this image, there's a nice rhythm between the vertical waterfall and the vertical tree trunks. Have you experimented with cropping l side? IMHO the ll is maybe expendable, and the jagged shape llc maybe detracts from it all...
I'm a little confused as to where all that mist is coming from? Maybe if it had more connection with the base of the falls? I think something a bit less abstract/interpretive would convey a better sense of the place but there is also something to be said for a more unique picture of a heavily photographed location.
Actually, that mist was a low cloud, as it was raining off and on most of the time and some times really heavy. There were plenty of low clouds and fog around. When I was at the viewpoint of North Falls from the road, you practically could not see the falls past the low clouds. Funny...it seemed to rain harder when I left my rain jacket in the car....but there's something invigorating about getting soaked by a good spring rain...
Eric, thanks for the cropping suggestion...I'll play with it a bit and see what works best. I kinda dont like the brush at the base of the falls. If I crop that out, and the left side...then I feel I've had to hack out too much of the pixels...meaning more that I'm just a hack for not seeing it in the field.

7 repliesIt sure does look green. From the looks of how mist there is, you can tell that the falls were raging.
