This fire is located on the CA coast in Monterrey County. It is currently 19,300 AC and is 10% contained. Several CA state parks south of Monterrey along HWY 1 are closed at this time. If you plan to be in the area, be sure to check local conditions.

Closures as of Tuesday included Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Andrew Molera State Park and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, among others. Facilities aren't endangered but officials decided to get the public out of the areas for safety and to keep roads clear and avoid exposure to bad air quality.

More information from CalFire and Inciweb

Smoke from this fire is making for very hazy skies in the Sierra, as well.

Be safe out there, everyone!

sad to hear they lost a dozer driver to the fire last night on the news. Keep praying for rain in California...

The fire is now 45,800 AC (71 Sq. Mi.) and is 25% contained. CA state park closures are still in effect. Hwy 1 is open, but there are closures on other roads in the area. There is no estimate on full containment, but the fire may burn well into the month of August. It was started by an illegal campfire.
