Question for Jim and Moderators:

Hi, are you planning the usual "second-chance"  last few weeks of the year when you allow us to re-post images that we feel are good, but did not "win" the WP ? 
Just wondering, and wanting to prepare..

Sandy, yes - we usually do that during the EPA break in the WC gallery.

Thanks, Mike. Actually, I copied that idea from the flora gallery, and I actually think it's a very good idea, for a couple reasons. First, the first and second best images in a gallery for the entire year could conceivably be posted in the same week. This would mean that a potential EP winning image would not even be considered for a EPA because it had the misfortune of being posted the same week as another top image. It means that the top three EPA in a gallery may or may not actually be the top three. Second, it often happens that an image, like Mike's, would have been selected for a WP many weeks but it just happens to get posted the same week as another very strong image. A "second chance" week gives everyone a second bite at the apple if they feel strongly about one of their images that did not get a WP. 

I think it's a great idea for ALL the forums, for the reasons well-explained  above.

We've done that a number of times in Flora for the reasons Scott enumerated plus in the specific case of Flora there isn't much going on at the end of the year so it seemed a natural and it also gives folks a chance to review their work for the year and post their personal favorites. We'll certainly do it this year. >=))>

Hmmmm...so this means there will be lots of especially-great images all competing against each other in each gallery. 
Should be challenging (and fun) !
