Shot this one this morning with my good buddy Kevin Also made the trip with pals Tim and Darren..
Kevin and I decided to pass on the common "log" composition, and get out on the edge at the top. I've always dug how the stream pounds the top basalt and blasts around the pocket formed. Not only did I avoid one log, but I cloned out the floating one in the pool for aesthetic's sake. One exposure, though...
Ned, nice clone job... Tim and I were talking about that this morning while we were up there....I have just downloaded the photos from today so once I go through them I will get some up.....
Nice work Ned. I noticed there were some nice ferns and foliage in the foreground from at that location also. Did you do any super-wides? You know I'm a sucker for super-wides. I was planning a similar image with a little foreground greenery before I drowned my camera.
Good to see you again Ned, this is a beauty! I particularly like the delicate spring foliage framing this one.

Thanks for the comments! Marc - actually - yes.. I have some with the really nice ferns there. I'm not as wide as what Kevin shot. I'm certain his will be quite stunning! Zack - yes, it was great to see you up there too. We sure had an awesome morning, eh? I don't think the light could have been any more perfect, and all the foliage was dead still...
Ned, this works well. I do like it. I shot one with my last camera, but it was horizontal. I've been wanting to get up here and take another whack at it with the D2x. Sorry I didn't meet up with you guys. I was dead tired and nursing a massive headache.
A classic shot done by the master himself. It was definitely the perfect day to shoot, and it felt good to meet up with ya to go on the trail one more time.
Man, today was just perfect! Overcast sky, wildflowers, and the perfect spring green. I even saw some beargrass. It's all right now folks!
Ned, very nice. I cloned out that same log from my shots as well. I captured some with a bit more of the foreground ferns, but I do not like them as much as this one. It was a great hike though. Hope to get out with you again soon.

Good to see a shot without the log. Good job on the comp.
