After the latest update of PS CC my brush doesn't work on my masks anymore. On regular masks nothing happens when I paint black on a white mask. In select and mask the brush works but in opposite direction. When I want to add to the selection I have to use Shift. In both cases it doesn't matter whether I use my Wacom tablet and pen or my mouse. With the clone stamp and all other tools there are no problems. I even uninstalled and reinstalled PS, but that doesn't make a difference. To be sure it isn't due to my hardware I tried PS 2015.5 and my brushes work fine. Has anyone a clue what is going on? Please help.

I've not read about, or had any issues.
A couple of things to check:
1) Blending mode of the brush. Is it set to normal
2) Opacity and Flow set at 100%
3) Try resetting the brush (not all of the tools, just the brush) - click the down arrow next to the brush on the tool bar, then the gear icon and choose reset tool
Thank you very much for your help Keith. Unfortunately the first 2 options I already checked and the third I tried, but doesn't work for the problem. I've tried contacting Adobe through Facebook and their website and no response until now.
I will post a comment on this topic when I do get the right answer.
Betty-Lou, I am just curious, but are using a Mac or Windows PC?
I have not updated to PSCC-2017 yet, and since I am using a Windows 10 PC, I will wait to see if your issue is bug that Adobe plans to fix, or if there is a work-around.
I am very interested to see what Adobe has to say about this.

Windows 10 and latest update to PS CC 2017 - no issues with me. Note there was just a recent update of 2017CC so maybe that was one of the bugs? Don't know. If all else fails, you can try resetting your preferences. That cures a lot of ills on multiple Adobe apps.
If all else fails, you can try resetting your preferences.
Here's how...
To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
I updated to PSCC 2017 today 01/02/17 on my Windows 10 PC and do not have the brush issue. The application appears to functioning nicely. It took a while to download and install PS and ACR, however.
I did have to reinstall Neat Image v 8. It also appears that the Nik Collection was removed during the update. If you use either of these plugins, be sure to check by going to 'Filter' in the menu bar and see if they are listed. If not, you will need to reinstall them.

Thank you for all your comments and advice. Fortunately with the latest update on PS CC 2017 all issues were solved. I guess there was a bug somewhere.
