My daughter is a purist and doesn't like photo art. :)  The rest of my family likes it a lot, as well as regular photography.

There is not very much posting in the Photo Art gallery on NPN.  One screen takes us all the way back to September 27.

There is a HUGE difference in subjects and treatments in the Photo Art gallery.  Unless you don't like photo art because you're a purist, like my daughter, I'm sure there's something you'd enjoy seeing there.

I think (but haven't asked her) that one reason Patricia Brundage posted her image initially in Flora is because SO MANY people look at the Flora gallery.  Almost no one looks at, never mind comments on, images in the Photo Art gallery.

Patricia's image is gorgeous, truly gorgeous.  If you didn't see it in her thread, I would really suggest you go to the Photo Art gallery page and look at it.  While you're there, you might take a look at that first screen of Photo Art images and see what else you might like, and comment on that, too.

Try it!  You might like it!  You might even find yourself trying out some photo art treatments on one of your images.  Most of us who do photo art have Photoshop plug-ins, but Photoshop itself has ways to do photo art.  Patricia's was done almost entirely in camera.  If you do look at least at Patricia's image, I can pretty much guarantee you'll enjoy it.

Very well-said! Patricia's flower is an exceptional work of art.

Photo Art is truly fun and I love seeing what I come up with.  I wasn't much of a fan at the beginning, but now I really enjoy it.  With every  image I take and post in the regular Galleries, I also look at it as a potential PA subject and envision what I could do with it..

There are lots of free/inexpensive actions and filters available, too, to play around with.

Here are some:

Thanks Barbara for using my photo as an example.  Photo Art is fun, whether to the extreme, or simply to give an artistic flair or make each image their own.  You are correct that there are very few views and comments in the photo art gallery and there is a sting to that. In my case, as the many digital options increase, my supply of pure shots becomes more limited...therefore my lack of activity in the other categories but I still always open the "All Images" category so I can enjoy other people's take on the world's wonders.  NPN is a great site and I'm thankful to Jim and the moderators for their hard work.  It is the first site I open each day and I will continue to do so whether Photo Art survives on NPN or not.
