Good Candidate for Metal Print?

I have been wanting to print a photo on metal for a long time now.  I have done a lot of research and read that some photos are a better candidate for a metal print than others.  For example, I read that photos with a lot of white are not a good candidate for a metal print.  So I scrapped my plan to print my white bird close-up on metal.  Before I choose another photo,  I would love to hear from any of you who have purchased metal prints what you think worked or did not work well with your metal prints.  Thanks in advance!

My criteria for metal prints is simple - I don't print any dark prints on metal; sunny, happy style prints work well on metal because metal gives such a high gloss finish.  A dark, somber print just doesn't look good in high gloss to me (just my personal opinion).

A sunny blue BG sparkles on a metal print.  My friend purchased a metal print of one of my dragonfly shots and she loves it.  Yes, bright and sunny with lots of colors work well with metal prints.  Red River paper company has a polar pearl metallic paper that you can try  to see how you like it.  I have printed with this paper on my Epson 2200 and the paper has a nice finish.................Jim

Sunrises, sunsets in bright colors and even pink hues.  Groupon sometimes has great sales on metal prints.  Be careful in transit, they do dent.  On the up side they are light to carry and are really striking as well as reasonably priced.  The site I used was Print It On Canvas (if my memory serves me well).  Was happy with their work.

Agree completely - bright and light colours just sparkle. White birds have been fine, as long as there is good detail in the white - if not, looks blown easily.

I agree with those saying that dark prints do not work well on metal.  I put several images into a community show recently, and one of the other photographers had several large metal prints of dark images.  It was very difficult to see the subject matter, and I think it really detracted from the images.  I actually had to walk back and forth in front of the pictures, trying to get a good look at them.
