I like the idea of making the format similar to NPN. I do watch the views in Photoportfolios and am amazed at how many there are on a consistent basis. Also somewhat surprised as to which ones are getting the hits sometimes?
I also like the idea of making the sizes of images the same and the mechanism for posting in Photoportfolios as in NPN so we don't have to resize and resize and resize...
What if when the images are posted to keep in NPN it is also automatically posted in PPF?

I actually forgot it even existed. I have removed all my images from there as I use my website. The look is old and outdated and I don't see a reason to spend time/money updating when there are so many good photo websites options available.

Preston : I have not added to my portfolio for some years now - I simply like the comment/critique function of the galleries.
The key question for me ( and Ed has pointed to this ) is why the portfolios are so much more visited than the galleries. I assume it is because they offer the opportunity to buy images - yet quite a few others, like myself, have abandoned them as they presumably have not sold through them or they have no real interest in selling anyway. So, how valuable are the portfolios as a selling tool ? If they do help people sell their work all well and good, if not they would seem to be merely duplicating the galleries. Could it even be that the portfolio concept is more attractive to viewers than can be explained by their marketing function ?
I would like to have a better sense of how the portfolios function before making any comments about updating them or personally using them again. An integration of galleries and portfolios ( I have not thought through how ) might also be a possibility.

Many of us are retired and on a fixed income and spending a few dollars a month to maintain a website is not an option. Does it cost to just leave it as is? Look at the number of hits I've gotten. One has over 20,000. Not many people outside of NPN members view the galleries, but they do Photoportfolios.
As to updating... its not necessary, but would be nice to have a slideshow feature and a larger image.

Updating the look/feel is something I can mostly do on my own, but changing functionality would require the participation of DtP ($$). NPN flies with its wings just above the tree tops so we need to be careful with expenditures.

I also forgot it existed. I'm glad to see people are still using it - Patricia, 305740 hits! Awesome! If we keep the site, and especially if it gets updated with the new Lightbox Slideshow and larger images, I will start using it.

What I am envisioning is using the exact same header and navigation as on NPN. In this way, it will feel like you're on the same site (NPN) and navigation will be consistent. Once that process is complete, we can start looking at some of the functional improvements that will require a significant expenditure.
