Bobcat Series (5 images)
I spent a couple of hours with this bobcat, and these are more images from that time.  He didn't come out of the tree while I was there.

These are unprocessed except for a little sharpening in LR5 and a little increase in exposure for a couple of them.  As you can see, the light was not the same the whole time, but the sky was.

Barbara, a neat series on this large looking bobcat. Interesting to see the difference between the cats from what I'm use to seeing out west. Tail length on ones I see off and on are definitely shorter, and they do seem smaller or not as long in body & leg length anyway. Thanks for sharing this group of photos.

A terrific encounter and a nice collection of images from it. I'm very jealous.

As Paul says this one appears bigger than the ones I've seen here in AZ and NM. And I agree that the tail is longer as well.

Thanks Richard, I thought maybe my eyes were letting me down here. I guess the one word I'd use for our southwestern cats is "stubbier"  or maybe "stocker", looking overall.

Nice series! and definitely stockier and longer tail than the ones here in CA/OR.

Bigger and much longer-tailed than the Idaho Bobcats I've seen. Makes me think an ancestor was a hybrid.

I have never seen a bobcat in the wild, so I am definitely jealous. What a nice series of images. Congrats on that!

Barbara,

I came across one these cats last spring on a visit to St.Marks NWR. I managed a very distant and rather dark image before sunrise, but I was able to notice the cat was much heftier than what I've seen in New England.

Great series, and wonderful job technically in getting this guy so well exposed against that bright background.
