It is time to renew my membership, and I have been disappointed in the number (sometimes only 1) critiques of my photographs.  Is anyone else having that problem?   I ask, because I use NPN as a sounding board to improve my photos for sale.

I find, that macro and art images don't get much feedback, while landscapes always get lots of feedback.  And, I even saw one photographer post an artistic avian photo, which used to be heresy (LOL), probably because she wanted her work to be seen.   And, unlike past experience, her artwork was praised highly and not criticized for being in the wrong gallery.

I am really confused.  I have been a member for so very long....I can't imagine not being a member.  But, I do want a productive membership.

Thanks for your opinions!

I just renewed, because I cannot imagine not being a member.  Hopefully, constructive critiques will pick up this summer.

Hi Lucy,

I apologize for not critiquing your images.  The arrival of Spring heralds new photo opportunities and everyone is out doing their thing.  I have noticed that comments and critiques are slow at the start, but pickup as time goes by.  Landscape photos are scrutinized heavily while POP and Photo Art images receive the fewest.  Everything else resides in the middle range.  One problem is that outstanding photos do get the most attention which is typical for on-line blogs. Critiques do require the most work to provide valid learning and idea generating for both reviewer and submitter.  So many factors play a role in generating comments, critiques, and or statements. I'm glad that you renewed and hope to see more of your images.  I probably owe you some critiques so fire awaycrying..........................Jim

Lucy, if you want to get more critiques I would recommend you make more critiques yourself on others images.  Looking at your profile, you average less than 3 comments per photo you post.  It's recommended to do a minimum of 5 per image that you post, if you post 10 critiques per shot that you post you will get even more critiques on your own images.  People are much more likely to reciprocate and comment on your images if you comment on theirs.  This goes for everyone who feels they are not getting enough critiques, look at yourself first and see if you need to improve the amount of comments that you post.

Excellent point Nate.  A minimum of 5 comments per post from everyone who posts a photo would mean a lot more comments for everyone!
