I reviewed the traffic on some of the NPN discussion forums. The table below summarizes the results...

Forum Latest Topic Post Date Latest Reply Date
Bird Photography 06/19/2017 06/20/2017
Digital Imaging 07/08/2017 07/09/2017
Flora Photography 05/06/2017 05/06/2017
Gear Discussion 07/07/2017 07/07/2017
Landscape Photo. 05/18/2017 05/24/2017
Photo Art 09/16/2013 None to Date
Wildlife Photo 06/15/2017 06/16/2017

As you can see from the table, some of these forums have very low activity, the exceptions being the Digital Imaging and Gear Discussion forums.

The questions posted on these forums are all excellent, so I wonder if similar questions would receive more responses if they were posted to the General Discussion Forum?

In my opinion, the Gear Discussion forum and the Digital Imaging forum should remain as they are, but the other forums could be removed and those questions posted in General Discussion.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks,

I almost always select the "All Forums" menu item, so I see them all regardless.

Preston, ditto for me as I always select the "All Topics" when reviewing forums. If I have no viable input on a post because of my lack of knowledge or interest on a specific subject I just don't comment.....laugh

Me too. It wouldn't make any difference to me, as I always view "All Topics"  and "All photos", no matter what category they are in.

That would work for me, Preston.

I always select all topics.  I usually don't even know which forum a message was posted in.

I too always select "All Topics"  and "All photos" when viewing daily so I don't miss anything - with that said - I see no reason for a change that creates more work for Jim and the staff. Also, as it is now, I find it much easier to go back and find older post that I may want to review than if they were all lumped together.
Have the moderators move any post that they feel is misplaced to the correct forum as they do with the images would be a better solution IMO.

If it ain't broke then don't fix it . . .  cool

While you're at it you might want to consider eliminating the regional forums as well as there is very little traffic to any of those these days.

I agree with Mike that it is helpful to be able to look back through a more limited number of posts for specific items in a specific forum though. Unless there is a way to build a key word search feature that can easily identify specific topics and subjects similar to the old Photo Portfolios pages.

Recent images/discussions are easily navigated with the view all buttons.
