The voting is done and the tally is below. No need for a recount on this one  . Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers is our new name.

Name 1st 2nd 3rd Pts.
AMNP 7 6 8 41
CDNP 1 3 4 13
MSNP 2 6 6 24
MWNP 4 11 8 42
RMNP 20 2 1 65
RMSNP 2 5 3 19

Before we give a proper adieu to CNP and SWNP - and hopefully we can - the next step is to come up with a new graphic. I'll set up a submission page like what we have for the image contests. Let's see if we can come up with a new graphic in the next few weeks. The forums will merge before that, so I'll see if I can come up with something temporary.

With regards to a proper farewell to our much loved CNP & SWNP, how about a get-together at Great Sand Dunes? I was thinking The Four Corners would be appropriate, but GSD would also give folks an opportunity (or another opportunity) to shoot some stuff for the display at the Park this fall, and there's plenty of camping for those who can make it. To give folks time to plan, and to avoid the July 4th holiday period, how about a get-together the weekend of July 22nd?

I know that there's mixed feelings on this one - I share that sentiment myself. But...here's to Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers!

Around 22nd July is normally a good time to be in the San Juans for Wildflowers.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Rick! As Jody predicts, the wildflowers should be popping in the high country that weekend.

What the deuce?!?! When did all this happen???

Hello to all the folks from SWNP and beyond. :wavey:

I would suggest that we meet somewhere in the mountains and shoot wildflowers on 22 July. The Sand Dunes will be hotter than hell at that time and the camping is limited. If we go to a national forest, we can have lots of camping spots, we will have cool temperatures, and lots of photo ops. I would vote for a San Juans get-together.

I am looking forward to the expanded forum!

Shouldn't the kick-off for RMNP (Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers) be in RMNP (Rocky Mountain National Park)?

Whether or not this ends up being a group outing, I would offer to arrange a weekend backpacking trip or two to some of the lesser known Rockies.

I plan to do King's Peak, Red Castle, and Naturalist Basin at various times this summer.

Get your CNP merchandise before they are gone.

I like it. In Fact I Like it A lot! :toast:

Heck I like the Graphic that's up now!

I like it too, but... has anyone considered that the initials are RMNP? Sounds vaguely familiar... now we will have to coin a new term for that unknown little park.

I will second what James said with regard to the logo. Why not just add the new text name to the current image? In that manner, the old CNP will live on a bit in the logo with the new addition of the title. I'm not sure any logo could be better than that.

How 'bout we have several get togethers one in the San Juans, one at the Dunes and one in the Uintas? The San Juans and Uintas are about the same distance wise for me.
I think the reason some folks wanted to stick to the older forums is becoming evident already.
Think I'll try to hang out in the Flattops for a while, anyone join me?
Have fun where ever you go out there!

Brian - I think James is referring to the 'temporary' logo that I put up yesterday. You may need to refresh your browser to see it. I don't know about keeping that one; I struggled to find a set of images from my own collection that reflected the region, so I 'borrowed' from Adam who seems to have gotten around much more than myself. Timing was critical as we were ready to merge the forums and didn't want to do it under the CNP logo as it was. I didn't have time to receive a response from Adam prior to putting up the graphic - probably not very neighborly of me... :frown: - so keeping it or anything similar would be entirely up to Adam.

I'll be putting up the banner contest post tonight (hopefully...). At that point, it's up to everyone to submit something that they'd like to see used as the permanent logo/banner.

Cheers!

Rick,

No worries, I'm fine with it. :wavey:

Looks like after 6 weeks in Canada Darren acquired one of those special Canadian keyboards...the one with the "eh" key.

Darren, the trip was spectacular. Got some images on the site and a trip journal if my web monkey hasn't disabled it to complete the site redesign we're working on.
