Was practising my macro technique with my new 28-105 D. I came across this, i thought it was a cricket of some type, looking closer at the image the heads wrong and it appears to be a bug (if you look close under the head you can see the proboscis). Anyone have an ID? The only bugs I've seen before are shield bugs, water boatmen and pond skaters.
Difficult to get a clear ID, I assume it was taken in the Manchester area?
Will try to get a full ID for you during the day.
Just a quick note... if anyone needs an ID I can do it or should be able to find someone here at the museum who can, please include details such as location, when taken etc, the more detail the better.
Ahh, Thank you. The shriveled wings should of given its nymph status away i guess, hmm interesting insect. I'll see if i can get some better macro shots of them. According to text i've found they eat catapillers... good... i have a dislike of all things grub like... :)

All the best
It is a final instar nymph of Miris striatus
Fairly common on deciduous trees etc, so your Hawthorn is a good place to find them...
