Hi all.

Yes, I am a Nikon shooter, but I have a P&S Canon, and A95. The battery door broke and we sent the camera to Canon under the warranty. I actually wondered if they would fix it, since the batter door breaking could be seen as a sign of abuse (though it was not, and there was no sign of impact).

Well, Canon fixed it and it is on its way back to me! I was very impressed with Canon's service.

Thanks Canon!

I've posted this before but for those that missed it: I dropped my 5D with the TS-E 24mm mounted on to a wooden deck from about 3 feet. It didn't even put a mark on the 5D but it broke my TS-E! Well, I packaged it up with a note to Canon explaining how I dropped the lens and waited for the $500 + repair bill. A couple days later I received a letter stating that they were repairing the lens under warranty and I received it back within two weeks. Now that's what I call service!

We spent a week in April at the WPPI convention and trade show in Las Vegas. There were 600+ exhibitors at the show, including HUGE booths from Canon, Nikon and Apple. Been to lots of others over the years, and always came away with a pretty bad taste in my mouth from presenting ideas and problems to the techs and reps.

Something is in the air this year, because my reception was different in almost every case. The companies were interested, concerned and took notes. I've even had follow up calls and emails from a couple of the vendors whose products had caused problems.

Could it be that customer service is finally becoming a priority with photo businesses? Heavens to Betsy!

I recently fell into a river with my 5D and 17-40L and completely submerged the camera. I sent it to Canon, expecting a week or two before I got new I'd have to buy another one. Turns out they got an estimate of only $1300 for camera and lens just a day after the camera had arrived and promise to send it back by early next week. I was pleasantly surprised all around!

Sounds like customer service IS becoming important! I'm glad Canon is providing great service! Nikon has performed similarly. When my D70 quit, I sent it to Nikon expecting a repair bill also. They fixed it at no charge (even though the warranty was out), installed new firmware, and returned it promptly. Hopefully competition will keep both companies on their best behavior!
