I was up in the park today, the trail up to Dream Lake has almost no snow, the lakes are open, lots of tourists around. Masses of flowers out now, Golden pea and Shooting stars flowering in Horseshoe park, Snow Buttercups on Trail Ridge, loads of marmots running around.
Elk and Big Horn sheep are high up on top of Trail ridge amusing the tourists.
Visitors are driving and parking all over the place so take care.
Just to add a little, the West side of the park is greening up quite nicely, lots of young aspen starting to leaf out. Several Mother Moose out with their young on Sunday. Got asked to leave the meadow rather sternly by a bull elk, assumed he was protecting something I could not see from my vantage point. Windy with lots of Big Horn on the top of Trail Ridge. Have fun and be careful out there.............................J
I hiked the trail to Odessa this morning and it still had a lot of snow on it. I actually turned back and shot sunrise at Bierstadt as I got tired of postholing. The tundra areas in the Park are quite clear of snow, but the Never Summers seem to be holding on to quite a bit. I was up there yesterday to get my headlamp.
Do you know what focal length gets the whole continental divide from Bierstadt Lake? I want to shoot it with 617, but have a limited lens selection for that format. I'm guessing between 28-35mm (in 35mm terms) fits it horizontally?
thanks
This was taken last week at 18mm on my digital (1.6x) which I think is actually 24mm. As you can see, it includes almost all of the divide, but not all of it. Hope that helps.

That means I can get it with a 150mm in 617.
