Highlight along the trail
I really liked the look of these ferns, and the proximity to the quick stream cascading past them. It makes for a nice contrast I think...

Man, Ned, this is nice! I can't even think of where on the trail you saw this.

Thanks guys! Kevin, it was the bridge we stopped at to shoot the small cascades and ferns. When you were shooting in there, I stepped back onto the bridge and looked down. The ferns were what caught my eye. As it turned out, the water seemed to make the other half of the image..

Good eye, Ned! I really like this. :toast:

Have you tried cropping down about 1/4 down from the top? For me, cropping it down a bit really forces my eye to the ferns.

Jerry has a good suggestion. Making it a square comp really makes the focus strong.

Ned this is really lovely - and very sharp ( )

Personally I'd not go quite to a square format, but more 16 x 20 (or 8x10) to have some of the upper green to make it 3 zones of interest. Perspective is really cool on this also....

Fantastic shot and comp, Ned. I love it! :)

Thanks for the comments and ideas. This was actually sharpened with the Photo Cleaner program. Comparing results with Photoshop and that program are near identical..

The square or near-square crop sounds good.. thanks!
