One from my holidays last year, I think it is a wall lizard - what ever the species is they are very common in the Cilento region of Italy (South side of Amalfi bay)
EOS 3, 100-400 IS L at 400mm, Sensia 100 rated at 200, exposure unrecorded, swimming pool paving, camera rested on ground, G&T one hand, camera in other, very strange looks from the rest of the residents.....
Whilst eating one evening the local kestrel swooped down and hit the paving area with an almighty thud, I thought it had dashed itself to death, but no, shook itself a few times and flew off with one of these guys....
I am no lizard expert but the distinguishing things I picked up were the plain tails - all look like they have regrown shed tails, and the blue/black marking above the front legs, otherwise very similar the the green lizards posted recently, and of course our sand lizards
Sounds a more appealing form of photography than shivering to death in a hide in the UK! I think I'd be tempted to crop a bit of the foreground out, but that's just my personal opinion. Otherwise, it's lovely and sharp and the horizon looks level despite the G&T
