Can anyone help with good wildlife watching spots in the Aberdeen area? I'm travelling up for a wedding next weekend and will have most of Friday to explore, not too bothered if the places are that great for photography.

We are staying somewhere near Inverurie.

Thanks

Gavin

Hi Gavin
Newburgh for ducks and waders. Bullers of Buchan Sea cliffs for the usual Sea birds. Inverurie and surrounding area is also good for birds. Hope that is some help.

Gavin

How about the RSPB reserve at Fowlsheugh down the coast near Stonehaven.

http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/f/fowlsheugh/index.asp

Also says boat trips run from Stonehaven harbour to view sea birds from the sea.

Might be a good day out.

Not been myself but I think the coastline around Stonehaven is generally good for cliffs and seabirds.

cheers

You could try Spey Bay (between Elgin and Buckie.) about 45 mins from Inverurie.
Ospreys daily(??!!) plus the chance of dolphins as well as Terns, eiders, warblers, etc.(my local patch)

Think I'll head up towards Spey Bay.
