I made a “recognizance” drive up to Mt. Evans yesterday afternoon. The road is open all the way to the summit.
Summit Lake is still mostly frozen. The road conditions are a bit bumpy (more than last year) around the lake. The edge of the road above Lincoln Lake has crumbled down the hillside in a few spots – careful here!
With afternoon thunderstorms in the area, the clouds and views on the way up were phenomenal, but once I got to the top, the clouds got thick. My descent was no more that 15mph and visibility was less than 20 feet. Needles to say no pics... but still a nice drive.
Looking forward to a few trips up there this season.
