I took this yesterday on the Somerset Levels.I have been experimenting with a 300mm 2.8 lens,1.7TC,and a large extension tube. This allows you to keep a good distance between you and your subject,as they are very quick at flying off just at the wrong time...........

Hi Stewart

A good shot with excellent detail in the wing and nice lighting and background. Only minor nit is the head is slightly out of focus. No EXIF data so not sure what your aperture was for this shot. Other than increasing the aperture you could go for a flatter angle so the head and wings are in the same plane parallel to the camera. But then you are forced into a less interesting shooting angle so difficult to find a compromise.

Also worth converting from AdobeRGB to sRGB before posting as the colours have lost some of their vibrancy as posted.

cheers

This is nice, yet to see any form of dragonfly this year so right jealous. Sean has some good points.
Great stuff.

Thanks for the comments, its always difficult to get the right angle on these twitchy things, and DOF is always going to be a problem, so I shall keep on trying to improve the technique!!
