Well, the banner at the top of the page is a temporary one. We're in need of a new graphic for Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers!
So let's see what you can come up with. The person submitting the winning graphic receives a 2-yr membership to NPN . If you're already an NPN member, you'd receive a 2-yr renewal when your current membership reaches time for renewal.
Contest Rules:
1. Graphic should be no more than 720 x 150 pixels and should be less than 150kb.
2. It is highly desirable that the graphic reflect the states represented by Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. This can be accomplished with images, graphics, words, etc.
3. Submissions may be posted here, or e-mailed to ricky_d at comcast dot net if your are unable to post here. I will post your image in this thread.
4. Submissions will be taken up until 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 18th.
5. Voting will begin on Sunday, June 18th and will close at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 25th.
6. Anyone may submit a graphic. Voting will be open to those who have posted in the forum prior to the voting period opening.
7. Limit is two submissions per person.
What - and not put it up for a vote? That didn't go over so well last time
We could end up with this one for sure. I 'hijacked' some images from Adam's website to make this one. He's graciously forgiven me . If he'd like to (re)submit it, I think that'd be great, but it's definitely his call.
Yeah, I can tell Darren is a native Coloradan. You guys should change the state motto to "if we say it enough times, people might believe it".
Let's see... there's more of the Colorado River in Utah and California. In fact the original Colorado River started in Utah at the confluence of the Grand and Green rivers, but the state of CO demanded the Grand be renamed the Colorado River.
The Colorado Plateau is mostly... in Utah.
If any place deserves the name "Rocky Mountain State" it's really Canada...
In 1933 Utah declared the Blue Spruce it's state tree. In 1939 Colorado got jealous and also declared the Blue Sprice its state tree...
Oh yeah, and when Colorado photograpehrs have any free time on their hands, where do they go to photograph? you got it - in Utah
So yeah, you want 5 images... go right ahead. Some of us know the real deal
People, get over it! We're talking about imaginary lines on a map. I mean no disrespect, but there is no need for us to go through this again. We are here to help each other and share our photos. I live in New Mexico but I like to think of myself as a resident of the Southwest and Rocky Mountains. I'm willing to bet that many of us aren't from the state we live in, rather we moved here to live in the area we love and to be close to the things we enjoy photographing.
adam, things can sometimes get a bit heated over here... there's been several topics, known collectively as cnp hot-buttons, that we try to steer clear of... BUT, it's all in good fun! i've got nothin' but love for all you guys, regardless of what your drivers liscense says!
Big D - I actually like your suggestion. My favorite CO pic is without a doubt the one of you kicking around a beach ball in Medano. Jennifer says it's "sublime" I'm thinking 400x800, right across the top of the forum....
Now we're talkin'!! That's a pretty impressive start!!

I need some help finishing this off with actual photographs from all the states.
Some better photographs wouldn't hurt either. If you are interested in collaborating on this design please let me know.
Lee, fyi...these are designs by others, emailed to and posted by me. None of the moderators are providing any critique regarding the designs. As long as submissions meet the rather broad guidelines, it's all good!

The last thing any of mods have had the time for lately is taking care of our own personal business. Thanks for pointing that out.

We could still use some help with a Montana image.
