One of my personal favorites from this year in the Columbia gorge. I thought the curvature of the stream and leaning background tree complimented each other. I posted a landscape format earlier but the vertical has grown on me. Thanks for any comments.
I like this Marc for the same compositional reasons.. real cool. I also like the larger version being posted. It is a real treat for the eyes.. No improvements needed - it looks very balanced..
I think the recent rains have done their job sufficiently to make all the magic happen right now. I'll be scouring the gorge all saturday...drop me a note if you're into meeting up.
No can do on Saturday Rick. I still don't have the camera back and have to work at night, otherwise I'd be there without a second thought. I should have the 5D back by late next week or early the following week but at least I feel that I covered the gorge fairly well before I lost the camera this year. All I have to work with now is an old Elan film body and no scanner.
Hey, I forgot to critique the image when I gave a shout out to shoot tomorrow. I think the elements flow well together here. Not too easy to do in the chaotic gorge. Because the elements are directed in the same...er...direction, the image feels like it is tilting left, but it doesn't detract at all from the overall beauty. I know I'm wierd here, but I can look at mossy creek images all day.
Mark,
I'm a sucker for stream shots flowing away from the camera. I'm thinking maybe the water could be a little softer. I just bought a 64x ND filter just for these type of shots.
That dark mossed Oak (???) on the Right really grounds this for me and makes it special. Only nit I have is the piece of dead tree/bark on a rock middle right directly under the tree - I'd clone that out. Everything else is perfect....
This is a beautiful comp. My eye wanders all over taking in all elements. I particularly like the triangle of the right front rock, left boulder and group of moss rocks below the tree. They really balance this high contrast foreground. Nice work. I am guessing you were standing in the middle of the creek.
Oh, the risks you take!
