I have not been on the site in a bit but there was a post that spoke of what makes an extraordinary photo. It is no longer here. I though it could have been some good debate. Was it removed for some reason or am I just blind?
Hi Brent, I have been on the forum off and on all day. Something keep nagging at me and until now I didn't know what it was.But you are right the post is missing I am not sure when it happened though.
Hey Brent - I posted the topic Friday before Memorial Day. Up until your comment about a week after I posted, the only comment was from Wayne Rhodus. Seemed like there were an average number of views, but not much interest from anyone as far as comments. I waited a few days after I replied to your comment and said what the heck, no need in wasting server space, so I trashed it. I apologize if there was more you wanted to add, but after more than a week, it appeared to me that everone who wanted to comment had done so. After most posts work their way down the list so far, seems like they're rarely checked anyway...
I tend to dump my posts after a week as well - don't need to clutter up the web with my stuff when most of it is on the Journal anyway. I do realize sometimes it is good to be able to go back and read old posts, but often I change my mind in a week and don't want those old high school photos to see the light of day!
Ahh. I do not get a chance to get on the site each and every day so when I went to see if there was anything going on and it was gone, I figured someone started screaming and shouting and it got ejected.
no big deal. I would like to read your response though. It could be a good topic.

Seems like about 95% of all message boards on the web are filled with this sort of BS - it has become a fulltime job for folks to get online and make fools of themselves. This message board is far above all of that and you won't find the ranting and raving here, unless it is about good stuff!
You hit it Tim. I mean some of these people post stuff all day long about nothing at all and waste so much time. I think it is an epiemic and we should talk about it in GREAT DETAIL and LENGTH here on this forum
"I would like to read your response though. It could be a good topic."
Brent - just wanted to let you know what my thoughts were on your reply. I think you felt that there was much more to creating an extraordinary image than dramatic light, clean BG, and emotion. I'm afraid that in my earlier post, it started to sound like a recipe for making an extraordinary photograph whenever you go out to shoot. Stallings' point was that those are common characteristics of images that he considers extraordinary. And of course, we all have our own definition of what's extraordinary. I agree that there is much more to producing a really great photograph, these are just things that really good ones seem to have in common, as your bison image demonstrates so well.
So that's pretty much all I had to say - nothing really worth getting ejected over I hope...
