Has anyone ever used a Wacom Graphics Tablet for photo editing? I'm just about ready to click the checkout button on an Intuos3 6x11 model, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience they could share...
I borrowed a 6x8 model from a co-worker so I could get a good feel for it before I buy.
I'm going for the 6x11 because it supports double monitors.
Curtis: I use a WGT quite a bit. I have the Intuos3 6x8. I run dual monitors in extended mode (PC). I have not had any problems with the 6x8 or dual monitor issues. The guys at WACOM are great. Had to call them once for trouble shooting......very helpful. They also know and understand how their product interfaces with PSCS2. They gave me several undocumented hints with brush strokes and sizes, etc......
Check out their web site for instructions.....from basic to advanced....it is all there.
I like the control that the tablet gives me. I don't use it all of the time; however, I am glad it is there when I need it....Enjoy.....you will like it. I would NOT buy the larger size unless you must have it.
Might I ask what the reasons for using a tablet might give you over a mouse and keyboard? I used to use a 36x48 digitizer in my old drafting days...I cant see a reason except for being a gear weenie...
I love mine, as the pen offers very precise control for editing - much more than a mouse or keyboard. PS I have a 6x8 one I'd sell, if anyone is interested - I use a larger one now. Sandy
OK, I am sold. I've been playing with the borrowed pad tonight and when I started using the eraser, and I was able to use the pressure sensitivity to work my way in and around the intricate details of the trees, I just about screamed with joy at how easy the pen makes this kind of editing.
I was able to erase the layer mask on the reflection in about 90 seconds without going through all the select/feather issues. The harder you press on the pen, the bigger the brush stroke. when you need to get into the small spaces, you just let up on the pressure a bit, and keep moving along.
I use the 6x8. Inge hates it; I think it's great. (She doesn't have to use it .) In addition to the preasure sensitivity, I like the slots to zoom in and out and the alt/ctrl/shift buttons on the tablet itself. Mine is set so that preasure controls opacity rather than size. If you're using an oblong brush, you can have the angle you hold the pen control the angle of the brush.
Rick, you're already good enough with PS; no need for you to get any more help . Seriously, I bet you'd be deadly with one of these. I played around with a digitizer and puck back in school (had to use one for input in a graphics class) and the pen is nothing like a puck.

I'd buy again.

That's it, I'm pulling the trigger tonight.
